Newcastle vs Bournemouth

 

On January 18, 2025, AFC Bournemouth delivered a stunning performance at St James' Park, defeating Newcastle United 4-1 and halting the Magpies' nine-match winning streak. 

 The match was highlighted by Justin Kluivert's exceptional hat-trick, marking his second of the Premier League season. 

Kluivert opened the scoring early, capitalizing on a lapse in Newcastle's defense. Although Bruno Guimarães equalized for Newcastle, Kluivert restored Bournemouth's lead before halftime. In stoppage time, he completed his hat-trick with a long-range strike, bringing his season tally to ten league goals, matching his career-best from the 2017/18 season with Ajax. 

 Milos Kerkez added a fourth goal, sealing Newcastle's heaviest home defeat in three years. 

This victory propelled Bournemouth to sixth place in the Premier League standings with 37 points, just behind Chelsea on goal difference, while Newcastle remained fourth with 38 points. 

 The result underscored Bournemouth's tactical prowess under coach Andoni Iraola and exposed areas Newcastle must address to maintain their position among the league's elite.
